Key Responsibilities of Senior Underwriter, Renewables:
- Source and Underwrite New Business: Actively seek new business opportunities and underwrite them to meet profitability targets.
- Manage Renewable Energy Accounts: Develop, grow, and maintain a profitable portfolio of Renewable Energy accounts.
- Governance Framework Compliance: Underwrite according to the Energy & Construction governance framework, including Underwriting Authorities, Guidelines, and Functional Rules.
- Oversee Data Submissions: Ensure global consistency by managing a data set of submissions and historical loss results.
- Collaborate with Functional Areas: Work alongside Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims, and Operations teams to ensure smooth underwriting processes.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide training and support to junior members of the Energy & Construction team and manage underwriting assistants as needed.
- Maintain Client Relationships: Build and sustain strong relationships with key producers, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring excellent service and satisfaction.
- Policy Documentation: Ensure accurate policy documents are issued to producers.
What You’ll Need to Succeed as Senior Underwriter, Renewables:
- Qualifications: Ideally, you should be CII qualified or working towards it.
- Experience: Extensive experience in underwriting Renewable Energy business for large corporate international clients.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of regional/local Renewable, Engineering & Construction insurance markets, along with the competitor landscape.
- Data-Driven: Ability to leverage data and analytics to improve underwriting efficiency.
- Legal and Regulatory Understanding: A solid understanding of the legal and regulatory environment affecting renewable energy.
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on results.
