Job Description

The Cleaner will play a vital role in ensuring the school is kept clean and safe for both students and staff. The position involves:

• Hours: 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday (3:30 pm – 5:30 pm), with flexibility to meet the school’s needs. The role operates on a 52-week contract, with holidays taken during school breaks.
• Cleaning Duties: Your responsibilities will include:
  • Toilet cleaning
  • Mopping floors
  • Cleaning internal glazing and windows
  • Vacuuming
  • Operating cleaning equipment such as scrubber driers and buffing machines
• Working Alone: You will be expected to work independently, managing your time effectively and maintaining a high level of cleanliness with attention to detail.
• Teamwork: While you will work independently, you will also collaborate with the wider Facilities Management team to ensure the school is kept in top condition.

About You

We are looking for an energetic, reliable, and hard-working individual who takes pride in their work. You should have:

• Cleaning Experience: Previous experience in cleaning roles is essential, but we are also open to applicants with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
• Attention to Detail: The ability to identify areas that need cleaning and ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
• Customer Care Skills: A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to communicate effectively with school staff, students, and visitors.
• Ability to Work Independently: Self-motivation and the ability to work to tight deadlines and timeframes.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and the use of cleaning machines.
• Eligibility: This position is open to Rochdale residents only (must live within the municipal boundaries of the Borough of Rochdale). Candidates will also be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, medical clearance, and references.
