Make a Difference as a Warehouse Volunteer with the British Heart Foundation

Are you passionate about staying active, supporting a good cause, and helping protect the environment? Join the British Heart Foundation as a Warehouse Volunteer at our Homestore in Bromley. By volunteering with us, you’ll play a key role in funding vital research into heart and circulatory diseases, including conditions such as heart disease, stroke, vascular dementia, and diabetes. Your contributions will directly impact families and loved ones living with these life-threatening conditions.

We are looking for volunteers who are eager to contribute a few hours a week or occasionally to help our charity shop continue making a difference. Volunteering is flexible, inclusive, and a rewarding way to give back to the community.

What Will You Do as a Warehouse Volunteer?

As a Warehouse Volunteer at the British Heart Foundation Homestore, your duties will include a range of tasks designed to keep the warehouse running smoothly and ensure the continued success of the store. While the role may involve some physical work, it is a dynamic position offering multiple opportunities for you to contribute in various ways:

  • Lifting and Carrying Furniture: Safely move donated furniture items from the van to the warehouse, and then to the sales floor once they are ready for display.
  • Warehouse Organisation: Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and well-organised to ensure smooth operations.
  • Van Deliveries and Customer Preparation: Assist with receiving van deliveries, preparing furniture items for delivery to customers, and ensuring that they are properly packed and ready for dispatch.
  • Furniture Assembly and Repairs: If you’re confident, help build flat-pack furniture for display purposes, as well as carry out minor furniture repairs alongside the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Stock Replenishment: Restock furniture on the sales floor as items are sold, ensuring the shop is always stocked with attractive and well-presented products.

In addition to these key responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to try different roles within the warehouse, including testing electrical items and managing stock logistics.

What Are the Benefits of Volunteering with Us?

Volunteering with the British Heart Foundation not only helps fund lifesaving research but also comes with several personal benefits:

  • Employee Discount: Enjoy a 25% discount on donated goods and 10% off new items in our shops.
  • Free Support Services: Access unlimited, free, and confidential support from the Retail Trust.
  • Training and Development: Gain access to training opportunities and develop new skills that can benefit your career and personal growth.
  • Travel Expenses: We’ll reimburse reasonable travel expenses to ensure you can get to and from the store.
  • Refreshments: Free refreshments will be available during your shifts.
  • Recognition: Receive a volunteer certificate and long-service awards, plus references upon request.
