Key Responsibilities:

As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care within the Colposcopy and Rapid Access Gynaecology Clinic. Your duties will include:

  • Supporting patients throughout their journey, from initial consultation to treatment.
  • Assisting with Colposcopy and Rapid Access Gynaecology procedures.
  • Providing clinical guidance and advice to patients, acting as an advocate when necessary.
  • Ensuring that clinics are appropriately staffed, organised, and safe for both patients and clinicians.
  • Managing departmental organisation, including rota scheduling and supervising junior staff.
  • Undertaking Cervical Screening Sample Taker training to lead nurse-led cytology clinics.
  • Ensuring that failsafe processes are executed effectively and accurately.
  • Promoting person-centered care principles to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all service users.
  • Leading or supporting the development of the Colposcopy and Rapid Access Gynaecology service.

About the Role:

This role offers the chance to work within the Gynaecology Oncology Directorate, in an outpatient setting, where you’ll help manage a safe and efficient service for women attending for Colposcopy and Rapid Access Gynaecology procedures. The Staff Nurse will work autonomously at times and be accountable for their own actions, ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care.

  • Management and Team Leadership: At times, you will be in charge of the department, supervising junior staff and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
  • Training and Development: You will have the opportunity to undertake further training, including Cervical Screening Sample Taker certification, to offer nurse-led cytology clinics.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid NMC registration.
  • Experience in a clinical setting, preferably within gynaecology, oncology, or outpatient services.
